November 14th, 2004
On a cold November day I decided to evaluate the basket of rusty parts I purchased with my Jigers and figure out what parts are original and what parts are actually usable. Attached to the control stick, the Jiger has a clutch system and a brake system. The lower clutch system attaches to the motor and has a left and right side set of clutch discs. My clutch parts are almost non existent. I have a few clutch discs but there pretty warped. More clutch parts are definitely on my shopping list. The brake system attaches to the steering column and provides the leverage to change the belt ratio on the drive belt stage. My upper system is rather complete but I am quite sure these parts have spent most of there life in the water because they resemble something from recovered from the Titanic. I am going to spend some time with a sand blaster to remove the rust just to see how much usable metal actually exists. Not a great situation to be in. At this point it may be less work to search for another Jiger clutch system entirely.
